about

Noise from the Underground was a moniker used by Daniel Steffey in the mid-2000s as a way to release his earliest audio and music experiments. While documenting the processes of music making happening at this time, it was of interest to revisit some of them and try and blend the old with the new. This music was made with a basic reliance of what was happening in the moment over solving any overtly complex technical problems. The techniques centered around a minimal setup employing generative MIDI, tape looping, and effects processing using only an iPad and Korg Volca Modular.
